The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Dato’ Syed Omar Secondary in Alor Setar, Kedah today denied the incident involving a Form Four student who claimed he was beaten up by his discipline teacher.

The denial came 11 days after the incident occurred 11 days ago.

Its President, Mohd Najib Zainal said investigations revealed that the police report contradicted with the student’s confession during a PTA meeting with the victim and the discipline teacher, last week.

The student’s father, Naharudin Aizan, 38 had lodged a police report on Feb 8, claiming that his son was strangled and punched at the back of his head, face, shoulder and kicked on the foot by the teacher.

Mohd Najib also said that the student also admitted that he was knocked using the teacher’s knuckle. No injury had incurred following the ‘knocking’ episode.

The discipline teacher admitted to the action after Nahar Danial Aiman Naharudin, 16 became aggressive when he was asked about his tardiness and tidiness during school hours.

“We got news from the son and the teacher, and once we have obtained information from all quarters, we concluded that his son’s version had contradicted from the original story but admitted that the teacher had touched him by knocking him using his knuckle,” he said at a Press conference here today.

At the meeting, all parties had given their clarifications and explanations to seek an amicable solution.
Unfortunately, he said, the student’s father was dissatisfied and proceeded with legal action against the school.

Mohd Najib however said, he respects the student’s guardian but his decision to take legal action will not resolve the issue.

The Press conference is aimed at keeping the good name of the school and uphold teaching profession
especially in addressing discipline issues.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Kedah Education Ministry, school headmaster, the discipline teacher, police officers and the PTA President.

In a report on Astro AWANI published on Feb 8, a male student claimed that he was beaten up by the discipline teacher for his tidiness in school.
