KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) takes seriously the contents of the letter sent by UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, on February 26.

According to Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, the contents of the letter have huge implications on the cooperation between UMNO, Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the future.

"In this case, Bersatu decided to continue to focus on empowering the cooperation in Perikatan Nasional, namely PAS, STAR, SAPP and Gerakan based on an honest and sincere struggle for the people to win the next election.

"Bersatu is also of the view that the Perikatan Nasional government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is still intact and functioning to serve the people," he said in a media statement after the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) meeting on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Hamzah explained that the meeting chaired by its president, Muhyiddin, also expressed gratitude for the success of the PN government in completing one year in governing the country.

"During the one-year administration, the Perikatan Nasional government has succeeded in upholding the principles of good governance, transparent and has integrity, especially in preserving the independence of the judiciary and the rule of law.

"In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and challenging economic situation, political stability is very important to ensure that all government plans can be realised effectively," he added.

Therefore, he said, Bersatu expressed gratitude to all loyal political parties and remained steadfast in supporting and defending the aspirations of the PN government.
