It may have been a year since Karpal Singh passed away, but his memories will never be forgotten by MIC’s former strategic director, Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari.

He said Malaysia is still reeling from the death of one of ‘her most loved sons’.

"It is hard to imagine that a year has passed since Karpal left us.

"His contributions are too many to mention. Although many believe that he has left behind a vacuum, I disagree.

"The 'tiger' maybe no more, but his 'cubs' have now grown into ferocious tigers themselves," said Vell Paari, when referring to Karpal's children, namely lawyers Gobind Singh, Ram Karpal Singh and three others.

Vell Paari said he and Gobind might be on the opposite sides of the political divide, but credit must be given where it's due.

“He is a chip of the old block and through him and his siblings, Karpal’s roar will continue to reverberate through this nation," he said in a press statement today.

Karpal died in a road accident along the North-South Highway near Gua Tempurug, Tapah, on April 17, 2014. A previous road accident had already left him in a wheelchair.

The DAP veteran left behind five children, four grandchildren, and his wife of over 40 years, Gurmit Kaur.
