Prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said justice and stern action would be taken over the death of T. Nhaveen, 18, who was brutally assaulted by a group of youths in Jalan Kaki Bukit, Georgetown, last Saturday.

The teenager passed away at Penang Hospital at 6pm today.

Najib who is saddened by the death of Nhaveen, expressed his condolences to the teenager's family.

"Saddened to receive news of the passing of T.Nhaveen. Condolences to the family. Justice and stern action will be taken against his assailants," he said in a post on Twitter, today.

In the incident which occurred at 2.10am, the victim and another person, aged 19, were buying burgers when they spotted two individuals known to them and they started mocking each other, before six others arrived.

The two victims were believed to have been hit with crash helmets, as well as punched and kicked by the group before the 19-year-old victim managed to flee and informed his uncle on the incident.
