The son of the Johor Sultan, Tunku Abdul Jalil Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim passed away earlier tonight due to liver cancer. He was 25.

Tunku Abdul Jalil breathed his last at 7.11pm at the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru, the Johor Council of Royal Court president, Datuk Abdul Rahim Ramli announced.

He said the remains of Tunku Abdul Jalil would be brought to the Istana Besar Johor tonight and would be placed at a special room in the palace.

"The bathing and kafan ceremony will take place around 7am tomorrow (Sunday) and the remains of Tunku Jalil will lay in state at the Istana Besar Siggahsana Room," he told a media conference held at Bukit Timbalan in Johor Bahru.

Abdul Rahim said those who wished to pay their last respects could do so between 9am and 11.30am at the Istana Besar Johor.

The young royal, who is the fourth of six children of Sultan Ibrahim and Permaisuri of Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris will be laid to rest at the Mahmoodiah Royal Mausoleum after Zohor prayers.

Tunku Abdul Jalil was born on July 5, 1990 and was the Tunku Laksamana of Johor.

He had been battling Stage 4 liver cancer and had previously underwent a liver transplant in China.
