Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has expressed regret over the attitude of a handful of social media users whom he said circulated false information and pictures on the floods in the state.

He said the authorities had received many complaints on the matter and hoped that the people would not be fooled by the propaganda but check with the relevant authorities to get the right information.

"I find that these irresponsible people have uploaded pictures of floods that occurred several years ago.

"Some of the pictures were of floods in Singapore which were linked to Johor," he said to reporters after visiting the flood relief centre at the Kota Kecil Multipurpose Hall here Wednesday.

Mohamed Khaled said all local authorities in Johor had been instructed to identify the flood-prone areas in their areas of administration to enable remedial action to be taken to prevent a repeat of the natural disaster. - Bernama
