The Johor government will continue to improve the living standards of its people to ensure that development carried out contributes to the wellbeing and happiness of the people.

Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the state government did not want to assess progress based on only physical development, but also take into account development that improves the quality of life of the people.

"We do not want to measure progress and development with skyscrapers but rather focus on developing a humane society in our state.

"This is the basis and goals which will continue to be implemented as planned in the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) under the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), assisted by the existing Local Authorities (LAs)," he said.

He told this to reporters after witnessing the handing over of Humanitarian Assistance by Johor Corporation (JCorp) to Mercy Malaysia at his office here Wednesday. -- Bernama
