The plan to make Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang as the 'food haven' by Kuala Lumpur City Hall is expected to start middle of this year, said KL Mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib.

He said City Hall has met and discussed with the Jalan Alor traders, and most had agreed with the proposed plan.

He said Jalan Alor would only be transformed into a food bazaar during nighttime.

"We are in the final stages of designing this plan, which is expected to begin in June or July.

"We have allocated RM12 million, or more, for this initiative and we hope that everything will be completed by next year," Ahmad Phesal told the media after attending a meeting with KL MPs at City Hall headquarters here Friday.

Last August, the government had announced that Jalan Alor would be transformed into one of Malaysia's food hub.
