Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) Director-General Tan Sri Othman Mustapha and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom will request an audience with the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar regarding an issue involving Jakim officer Zamihan Mat Zain.

Othman, in a statement on Saturday, said Jakim respected the sultan's remark on the matter.

"Therefore, I, as Director-General of Jakim , and Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, will immediately seek an audience with the Sultan of Johor regarding the issue on Ustaz Zamihan Mat Zain, Jakim cadre officer at Kajang Prison, who gave a ceramah (religious talk) on Muslim-only laundrette that has been viralled on the social media," he said.

Zamihan, who is Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia Organisation (Aswaja) president, was in remand for two days since Thursday to facilitate police investigation for sedition in connection with his religious talk.

He was released on police bail at 2 pm yesterday.
