Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today urged youths not to always be critical of all the government’s initiatives and decisions.

Instead, he called on them to provide better solutions.

“This is what I want to stress to the youths of today, we can criticise but it is better to provide a better solution than just criticise,” he said in his speech at the launch of Fellow Perdana 2016 programme at the Prime Minister’s Department today.

He said, he wants the younger generation to understand that nothing is an easy decision for the government.

“For example, we have conflicts like increasing petrol price. We know it is not popular but if we do not increase the price of petrol, we have to give out subsidy. People don’t realise that this is public fund. Fund that we can use for village roads, housing and development,” he said.

He said decisions must be made for the benefit of the people.

“Decisions must be made. But what are they? That is why programmes like this are useful and important to understand a decision,” he added.

Najib also reminded that a person’s success does not rely solely on academic results but need leadership qualities as well.

“This involved issue of strictness, our ability to understand a complex issue, out relationship with those in higher positions, our peers and all.

“That is why when we participate in programme like this, we know about administrating a country especially one as diverse as Malaysia, it is a complex challenge,” he added.

He said the challenges that the Malaysian government faces are not easy to understand.

“It is not as easy as we see from the outside. When we are outside, it is easy to give opinion or criticise but when we are inside, then only we understand that to administer a country with different races, religion, language and culture, it is not as easy as it seems from the outside,” he added.
