The government has announced that inter-state travel to return to hometowns to celebrate Aidilfitri are not allowed.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said however inter-state travel could be done for work purposes or those stranded in villages or elsewhere.

In addition, he said social events involving large gatherings were also banned to prevent COVID-19 infection.

"Social functions, community and cultural events involving public gatherings such as feasts, open houses, breaking of fast in a large group, concerts, cultural performances, monthly government and private departmental assemblies and all forms of opening ceremonies and assemblies are not allowed.

"Religious activities such as religious parades, Friday prayers and all other congregation or assembly activities at mosques, suraus and houses of worship are also not allowed," he said in a Special Message in conjunction with Labour Day here today.
