The rural infrastructure projects implemented in Sabah last year exceeded the targets set by the government, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.

He said the main focus was on building road networks in rural areas where the government's target for last year was 198 km but 214.85 km of road was built.

"This means that 109 per cent of the target has been achieved. Another project which has been requested by the people is water supply in rural areas, where our target last year was to supply water to 2,500 homes.

"But we surpassed our target and supplied water to a total of 4,150 houses," he told the media after attending a meeting here in Tongod, Friday.

He said the government also surpassed the target of supplying 3,584 homes with electricity last year with 3,605 houses receiving the amenity.
