Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has reportedly left for Thailand to address the matter of the alleged leak of classified 1MDB documents by Xavier Andre Justo.

It is understood that Khalid would be meeting his counterpart there.

The top cop before this had stated his readiness to head the investigation team to Thailand to question the 49-year-old Swiss national, a former PetroSaudi International Ltd (PetroSaudi) staff, in connection to claims of Justo's secret meeting with the Malaysian opposition.

Justo is claimed to have met key Malaysian opposition politicians to sell private information.

Following the alleged sale, several emails and documents were published by the Sarawak Report news portal that led to a multitude of allegations against 1MDB.

Khalid had said the investigation team would also probe the information given by the Thai police including a recording of a conversation with former Sarawak Tribune editor, Lester Melanyi.

Melanyi, in his recent video exposes, had claimed that the 1MDB scandal was only one of several plans hatched to discredit and subsequently overthrow the Malaysian government.

Khalid had said the investigation team is aimed to find out why several quarters are trying to overthrow the government in an undemocratic manner, a crime punishable under Section 124 of the Penal Code.

Thai police had arrested Justo on June 22 on charges of blackmailing PetroSaudi. Thai police had reportedly said if Justo is convicted by the courts, he would then need to fulfill two-thirds of his jail term before he can be extradited.
