Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar characterised the allegations by Sarawak Report claiming that charge papers were being prepared against Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak as of “invalid origins” and could cause confusion among the public.

In a statement on Twitter, Khalid has urged for the rumours to stop.

Khalid later uploaded another tweet by the Head of Prosecution Department at the Attorney-General’s Department, Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah who denied the charge paper revealed by Sarawak Report.
The tweet shared by the IGP was the first from Tun Abdul Majid although his (the chief prosecutor) Twitter account had been registered since December 2010.

Sarawak Report in its report claimed that the dismissal of the former Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani on Tuesday was related to an alleged corruption charge being drafted against Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Abdul Gani was replaced by former Federal Court judge, Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali.

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini who contacted Mohamed Apandi reported that he was unaware of the charge paper as reported by Sarawak Report.

“I do not know anything about the report so I am unable to comment, okey?” he said as quoted by the online news portal.

The Malaysia Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had recently blocked access to the Sarawak Report website with grounds that the report was invalid and threated the country’s national security.

Sarawak Report was alleged of reporting information about 1Malaysia Development Berhad which is said to have been stolen by a former employee of Petro Saudi International, Xavier Andre Justo who is currently being detained and investigated by the Thai authorities.
