Draft of National Harmony Bill to be presented to cabinet soon - Kurup


The draft of the National Harmony Bill is now in its final stage and will be presented to the Cabinet in the near future, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Joseph Kurup.

He said that to ensure the bill was able torealiseitgoals, his department had gathered views from various parties, including non-governmentalorganisationsand political parties.

"The Act is not to simply prosecute or punish those foundguilty butit's more to creating awareness and to educate people to not do anything that could affect the country's harmony," he said.

Police arrest teenage boy suspected of being involved with Daesh in Kedah


A 16-year-old male student was arrested at a supermarket in Sungai Petani, Kedah after he was suspected of being involved with IS militant group orDaeshterrorists.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the teenager was arrested by the Kedah Criminal Investigation Department under the SecurityOffencesAct (Special Measures) (SOSMA) 2012 and was now at Bukit Aman's (Federal Police's) Special Branch for further investigations.


Tuesday, Jan 12:

One dies, three others sustain injuries in Jalan Damansara crane mishap


A construction worker was killed while three were injured in the collapsed crane incident at Jalan Damansara, here today. Fire and Rescue Department received a report at approximately 4.50pm and arrived at the scene 20 minutes later.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and rescue Department senior operation commander Muhammad Firdaus Khan Anwat Khan said Li and two others were on the crane, which was believed to be overly-loaded, when it overturned at 4.50 pm.

The victim is known as Li Ji Yia, 50 while those injured were of Myanmar and Chinese nationals which have yet to be ascertained.


'I can be arrested any time under Sedition Act' - Zaid Ibrahim


Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim can expect himself to be arrested under the Sedition Act at any time.

Zaid said he expected a follow-up action based on the questions raised at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

"From the questions posed to me during the interrogation session, I can expect it (to be arrested under the Sedition Act).

DefenceMinister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein confirmed that the two suicide bombers involved in militant attacks in Iraq and Syriarecently wereMalaysians.

"Before this one of our citizens carried out a suicide bombing (in Iraq). Now two more.

"They are not only not afraid ofdying butaimed to do something others will not even think of," he told reporters

Jakarta under attack!


Militants launched a gun and bombassault killingat least six people in thecentreof Jakarta, in an attack that followed a threat by Daish fighters to put the country in their "spotlight".

Police said they suspected a suicide bomber was responsible for at least one of the blasts and up to 14 militant gunmen were involved in the attack

Two students die after being hit by 'ghost lorry'


Two students, aged 12 were killed while another student sustained injuries in an accident involving 19 vehicles in front of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, Mohd Safiq Mohd Noor said the preliminary report revealed that the incident occurred after a lorry lost control and rammed into 15 motorcycles parked in front of a school.

Mansuspected involved in militant activities detained at Jelatek LRT


Bukit Aman Special BranchCounter-Terrorism(E8) on Friday detained a man suspected to be involved in Daish militant activities.

The man was detained atLRT Jelatek station, Ampang with weapons and documents related to Daish or the Islamic State.



Azilahseeks royal pardon from Selangor Sultan for Altantuya murder conviction


Former Special Action Force officer Azilah Hadri who was convicted for the murder of Mongolian model Altantunya Shaariibuu is seeking a royal pardon from the Sultan of Selangor.

His lawyer Datuk Hazman Ahmad said when contacted that he submitted the petition for the royal pardon to the sultan's confidential secretary.

Four Malaysians arrested overDaishinvolvement


A married couplewereamong four individuals arrested by police during a special operation in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur between Jan 11 to Jan 15, on suspicion of being involved in terrorism activities andDaishmilitants.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said three of the suspects were caught by the authorities in Turkey while they were on their way to Syria.

Selangor, Johor policestepup security after Jakarta bomb attack


Selangor and Johor police said today they have stepped up security in the states following the bomb attack in Jakarta on Thursday.

Selangor Police chief Datuk Abdul Samah Mat said security was being beefed up at public places such as shopping malls, entertainment outlets, tourist attractions and entry-exit points such as airports and ports.

He advised the people in the state not to be unduly worried as the security situation was under control.

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Bangsar and Hartamas are among the areas of potential terror attacks.
He admitted that the information was obtained from the intelligence team.

"Yes, I did receive information. Amongthe theplaces that they are targeting include the Kuala Lumpur citycentre, Bukit Bintang, Publika, Solaris, Hartamas, Bangsar and The Curve," he said after launching FT flag campaign today.


TPPA could bring in additional US$100 billion investment
by
2027


Malaysia is expected to receive an additional investment of over US$100 billion (RM440 billion) by 2027 with the
implementationof the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA), said International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

He said the projected investment figure is from a study by consultancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers on the trade pact's benefits for Malaysia.
