Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz has defended his statement in calling for Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) to refrain from interfering in the country's politics.

Nazri said, he did not have any problems with the police investigating him and would fully cooperate, reported the Malaysian Insider.

"I am a man of the law and will face the law. So far I have not been called, not yet anyway," Nazri said.

The Tourism and Culture Minister added everyone should know that royal families are above politics and therefore cannot be charged under the Sedition Act.

When I defended Najib, I am being hauled up. Now you know that it is not a level playing field.

He also said, his comments were meant to defend the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

"When the Johor crown prince attacked Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, no action can be taken against him because he is protected under the Sedition Act.

"But when I defended Najib, I am being hauled up. Now you know that it is not a level playing field," Nazri was reported as saying.

On June 13, Nazri had earned the ire of TMJ after he advised the royal to stay out of politics following his attack on Najib over the premier's no-show during the #Nothing2Hide "PM's Dialogue With NGOs" forum on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) earlier this month.

Following his statement, several police reports were lodged against Nazri, which warranted a sedition probe.
