The implementation of hudud law in Kelantan is a sign of failure by DAP sec-gen, Lim Guan Eng and DAP advisor, Lim Kit Siang in preventing the implementation of hudud law in the Pakatan Rakyat-led state.

Gerakan Youth Chief, Tan Keng Liang said, the two leaders could possibly consider the proposition to relinquish their posts can pave the way for potential young talents to lead the party.

“Guan Eng and Kit Siang were too busy with their stand to prevent hudud law in the Pakatan Rakyat-led state. Now everything has changed, their efforts have turned futile and who would want to shoulder their guarantee before?

“I think they both can quit and pave the way for young leaders to head the party,” he said.

Keng Liang was commenting on the tabling of Kelantan Menteri Besar, Datuk Ahmad Yakob regarding the Syariah Criminal Law (1993) 2015 which contains hudud law at the State Legislative Assembly in Kelantan here today.

The 47-page bill was tabled by the Menteri Besar at 11am Wednesday to gain support from Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblymen.

The debate however has been adjourned to Thursday.

Prior to this, DAP has repeatedly cooperated with PAS and PKR in the policy framework has clearly opposed to the implementation of hudud law as a joint-agenda in Pakatan Rakyat.

DAP National Organising secretary Anthony Loke has issued a warning, the PAS-led Kelantan government move in tabling the Syariah Criminal Enactment at the State Legislative Hall is viewed an act of sabotage against Pakatan Rakyat aimed to break the political coalition.

Keng Liang said, Guan Eng and Kit Siang can now thing to ‘wash their hands’ and take full responsibilities in their mistakes to reject the implementation of hudud law.

“We urge DAP to stop all their political rhetoric and the higher-ranked leaders must take responsibilities of the failure,” he said.

In April 2014, Gerakan Youth sent a notice to PAS leaders, and do not hesitate to take any action in challenging the implementation of hudud law in Kelantan or any states in Malaysia.

Gerakan Youth also stressed that any move by DAP leaders to break the good ties with PAS is merely a political drama.
