The Syariah Criminal Code 11 1993 (Amendment 2015) or Hudud Bill, which was passed by the Kelantan State Assembly yesterday, is expected to be tabled in parliament in May.

PAS Central Committee member Khalid Samad said he was thankful at the development in Kelantan and would vote if the bill was tabled in Dewan Rakyat.

"As a PAS member, I will support if it is tabled in Dewan Rakyat. It is an effort to get the approval and agreement of the federal government to allow the Kelantan state government to implement hudud," he told reporters in
parliament lobby, yesterday, here.

Khalid, who is also Shah Alam Member of Parliament said it only required a simple majority to be passed and did not involve amendment to the federal constitution.

"It also requires a simple majority to be withdrawn," he added.

Commenting on the reaction of DAP and PKR who opposed the move, he said it was the right of Kelantan PAS to do so and should not become an issue.

"We leave it to them to decide because each has its own reason. Its up to them to support or otherwise. Furthermore, PAS has never claimed that hudud is part of the Opposition's policy."
