A group of homemakers fed up with the water woes they have been facing, turned to the media for help after their pleas fell on deaf ears.

The homemakers from Taman Desa Seraya, Alor Setar, Kedah, sought help to highlight the problem in the news.

They claim that they have been facing regular water shortage and when complaints were lodged with the authorities, usually no action will be taken.

They said, even if action was taken, the problem would only be a temporary solution.

In the latest case, the residents have to face water disruption for two weeks.

The group’s representative, Jassenta Silvarajan, 30, said the water disruption happens all of a sudden, without any notice issued by the authorities.

“When we need water, it is very difficult to get it. When we called the relevant authorities, there won't be a favourable response and they won’t even give a date on when this problem will be solved.

“So, until now, no action has been taken,” he said.

Jessenta said, despite the irregular water supply, the residents have to pay water bills of up to RM60.

The residents are also suprised that the water distruption still happens when their residential area is located only five kilometres from Alor Setar.
