Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein denied his involvement in selling the exclusive ‘Patriot’ registration plates to Yayasan Patriot Negara (YPN).

“I don’t know anything about ‘Patriot’, but maybe it is an attempt to ayself and the current transport minister.

He stressed that he was the least worried as, "I have nothing to hide."

The Defence Minister hopes that investigation will be executed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) if there was any abuse of power or misappropriation involved.

“Please check the records to be find out who approved the process. I have nothing to do with this and I hope there will be no attempt to put myself and the current minister in such situation,” he said.

Last Tuesday, YPN denied any wrong doing in the application for the exclusive PATRIOT number plate series.

Its deputy chairman Datuk Nadzim Johan said YPN had contacted the Road Transport Department over the matter, two years.

He said, YPN had paid a premium of RM1 million to meet the requirements for the 'fancy' registration plate.

The RTD has agreed to release the special series registrations to the NGO and the bidding for the vehicle registration number began on June 1 and the successful bidder will be announced on June 30.
