Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, 52, was admitted to a private hospital, Monday after suffering a narrowing of the artery.

His press secretary, Azmi Akop said doctors had carried out an angioplasty procedure at 3pm, and everything went well and the minister's condition was stable.

"He was admitted to the hospital for a medical examination this afternoon and was asked to take a rest by the attending doctor," he said when contacted by Bernama, Monday.

However, he did not know whether Hishammuddin would participate in the Umno General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre, here which began Monday until Saturday.

This is because everything depended on the Umno vice-president's health condition, as well as the permission of the attending doctor, he added.
