Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has been appointed the new Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) secretary-general, party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.

Muhyiddin said Hamzah will replace Senator Datuk Marzuki Yahya, who was terminated from the post effective March 18.

“In view of this, all secretary-general duties, as provided for in the party constitution, will be carried out by Hamzah.

“I would like to thank Marzuki for his services as secretary-general, and I would also like to wish Hamzah all the best (in his new role),” he said in a statement today.

Hamzah, who is Larut Member of Parliament, quit UMNO to become an Independent before joining Bersatu.
