FORMER Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad expressed gratitude for reaching the age of 94, much longer than he had expected.

According to him, such a long life is a bonus for him.

“I am grateful that I have lived longer than I had expected. I thought 75 years is enough for me but now that I'm 94, this is a bonus and I am very grateful.

“This is something that I cannot get just like that. But now that I am able to live all this time, I thought I should use my life as best as I could because this is a bonus for me,” he said.

He said this after being asked what he was most grateful for when attending an online video session, Creative Talk Show organized by the Creative Cloud Community on Wednesday.

The Langkawi MP added that he was grateful to have been married for 60 years with his only wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.

"I am grateful to be married for 60 years with just one person, I am grateful for that. I have also seen many people get tired of one person, but I don't,” he said.

Dr Mahathir made his own history when he was elected prime minister of Malaysia for the second time after Pakatan Harapan (PH) toppled the Barisan Nasional (BN) on May 9, 2018.

However, he resigned last February 24, which saw political unrest in the country, causing PH to collapse and is now being replaced by the Perikatan Nasional (PN).
