Nazipah Chik's joy in accompanying her children to a relative's wedding in Muar, Johor, was snuffed out when the 60-year-old woman, a son and two grandchildren were killed in a road crash, here, Saturday.

One of Nazipah's daughters, Junaidah Jusoh, 41, said that besides her mother, also making the trip to Muar were her younger brother, Mohd Fadzil, 37, and his family, and sister Nursyuhaidah, 23.

"There was nothing unusual displayed by any of them except mother who was exceptionally happy about the prospect of going to Muar.

"My family and I were travelling in one car while mother was in another car with Mohd Fadzil and his family.

"On reaching Segamat, we split ways. I followed the road via Tangkak while my brother took the Gemas-Tampin route.

"Not long after, I was informed that they were involved in an accident. We immediately turned back and raced to the scene of the crash to be informed that all of them had been taken to Tampin Hospital," she told Bernama, here, Sunday.

What was most heartbreaking was that Mohd Fadzil, who worked as a cook had just become a father after his wife Wan Suhana Wan Abdul Latif, 33, delivered triplets after 10 years of marriage, Junaidah said, tearfully.

Asked about one-year-old Muhd Fahimi, one of Mohd Fadzil's triplets, his wife Wan Suhana and Nursyuhaidah, she said Muhd Fahimi suffered a broken rib.

"While his wife remains in a critical state, Nursyuhaidah is said to be stable," said Junaidah, adding that all of them were now at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital, Seremban.

In the accident about 3.20pm Saturday, besides Mohd Fadzil and Nazipah, the others killed were two of the triplets, Muhd Farhan and Nur Farhana.

The accident occurred after Mohd Fadzil lost control of the Proton Saga he was driving and crashed into a Proton Persona car driven by a 62-year-old man coming from the opposite direction.

All four victims were buried in Kemaman, Terengganu, today. -- Bernama
