The government has declared April 24 as a public holiday to celebrate the installation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The public holiday was declared under the Public Holidays Act 1951 for Peninsula Malaysia and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

In a statement, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Ali Hamsa said Sabah and Sarawak state government can ratify the holiday using their state laws.

The installation ceremony will be held at the Balairung Seri of Istana Negara. It will be followed by a royal dinner at the Dewan Santapan of the palace.
