The Global Movement of Moderates Foundation (GMM) has appointed former PAS deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa as its new chief executive officer (CEO) replacing Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

Nasharudin’s appointment would take effect from November 1, GMM said in a statement today.

GMM chairman Tan Sri Razali Ismail said with Nasharudin’s appointment, the movement is confident in continuing its efforts to strengthen the relevance and application of moderation in foreign policy and in the country context.

“The Foundation will work closely with the relevant stakeholders in realising the operationalisation of Langkawi Declaration on the Global Movement of Moderates,” he said in the statement.

Nasharudin is currently the Chair of the Nassar Foundation, a non-government organisation, a fellow of Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) and a member of the Council of Islamic Chinese Relations (CICR).

He was a former MP for Yan (1999-2004) and Bachok (2008-2013).
