Responsibility is needed in upholding freedom of democracy, said Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.

He said then when asked to comment on the attitude of politicians in the country who often issue statements which causes problems to themselves.

“When we understand our own responsibility in this democratic country, negative impacts will not arise.

“The one that always issue a statement are the politicians, the political practitioners. Sometimes they are summoned in court for making statements which they should have never said.

“But in Malaysia, this is our democratic definition,” he said.

Pandikar Amin was met after an official visit by Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at Parliament on Saturday.

On Friday, special operations director, Datuk Bahri Mohamad Zin and strategic communications director, Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob were transferred with immediate effect to the Prime Minister's Department.
