Four students of a school in Batu Pahat were detained by police yesterday, to assist in the investigation into the rape of a Form One girl from the same school, between April and early this month.

Batu Pahat district police chief, ACP Abdul Wahib Musa said all the boys, aged between 13 and 15, were arrested around 1am at their respective homes in Sungai Suloh.

"Their actions were uncovered after the victim's mother, a 34-year-old clerk, was called by her daughter's school teacher informing her that her child might be a victim of rape," he said in a statement today.

Abdul Wahib said the mother took the 13-year-old victim to the police station three days ago to lodge a report, and to the hospital for a check-up.

He said based on the report, the police tracked down the four students, while another was still being traced.

The four students who admitted to having sex with the victim, are being remanded from yesterday to facilitate the investigation under Section 376 of the Penal Code for statutory rape.
