PUTRAJAYA: Former Election Commission (EC) secretary Datuk Seri Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria, 62, died of an asthma attack at his residence in Precinct 10 here early today.

His wife Datin Seri Noor Azman Ahmad, 61, said her husband passed away at 5 am.

She said prayers were held at Surau Al-Furqan, Precinct 11, Putrajaya before the funeral at the Muslim cemetery in Precinct 20 here after Friday prayers.

"He was a good husband, father and grandfather who was responsible and caring. Besides, he loved his grandchildren and always looked after them well," she said when met at her residence here today.
Kamaruddin was appointed EC secretary on Oct 1, 2010 and retired on Aug 13, 2013.

He leaves behind a wife, three daughters and a son, all aged between 27 and 35, and two grandchildren.
