A former aide of a DAP assemblyman pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of assaulting a woman with intent to outrage her modesty.

L.Prem Anand, 50, was alleged to have committed the offence on the woman, aged 21, at the car park of an entertainment centre at Lebuh Pantai here about 11.30 pm last July 6.

The former aide of the Paya Terubong Assemblyman was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code and faced an imprisonment for up to 10 years, or fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, if found guilty.

Magistrate Catherine Nicholas allowed him bail of RM7,000 in one surety and fixed Aug 23 for mention.

Lawyers Audrey Wee, S.Rethina Kumar and E.Gnasegaran represented Prem Anand, while deputy public prosecutor Nurul Izzah Shahruddin prosecuted.
