The Ministry of Health (MOH) has again confirmed that there are no issues regarding food safety in the country so far.

Director-General of Health, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the COVID-19 infection also did not occur through food.

Therefore, he said, the people need not worry because if the virus is present in the food, it will die when the food is cooked.

"So far, there are no issues with (wet food), because when we cook our food, the virus is likely (dead) and we do not hear about the transfer of virus from food.

"So, because we cook our food, it will kill the virus (if it's on the food).

"So, I don't think there is any report on the transmission of the virus from food. What is important is that we need to take precautions and maintain a level of hygiene,” he said at a press conference here on Sunday.

He said this when asked to comment on food safety, especially imported food after fresh and wet food in China such as fish that may be having problems due to the second wave of COVID-19.
