Residents in flood-hit areas have been advised to immediately move to evacuation centres to prevent any unwanted incidences.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said the affected residents should follow the instructions from the relevant agencies to be evacuated safely.

"We worry that the flood waters may rise suddenly and this would cause complications if they delay evacuation," she told reporters after accompanying Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem to visit conditions of flood victims at the Taman Malihah Multi-Purpose Hall in Matang, Monday.

Rohani also advised flood victims to salvage basic items such as important documents, medicines and clothing.

She said there would be medical officers on duty at the evacuation centres but they have to know the type of ailment and medications needed by those with medical problems.
