Five Penang Zakat Centre (ZPP) officers, including two senior officers, who were detained to facilitate in the investigations into the alleged embezzlement of tithe money in the state were released on Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) bail after their remand order ended today.

Magistrate Muna Maria Azmi issued the release order on all the officers at 11.30 am.

The two senior ZPP officers who were remanded from May 9 were released on RM20,000 bail each with one surety, while the other three who were detained on May 12 were released on RM10,000 each with one surety.

Fifteen individuals, including seven senior ZPP officers and contractors have been detained by the MACC since May 9 to facilitate in the investigations into the alleged embezzlement of tithe money over the past three years.
