Former aide to Tan Sri Isa Samad was remanded for five days beginning today to assist in the investigations into the purchase of Merdeka Palace hotel in Kuching, Sarawak by the Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) in 2014.

Magistrate Nik Isfahanie Tasnim Wan Ab Rahman issued the remand order at the Magistrate Court here today.

The 51-year-old served as a special officer to Isa during his tenure as Felda's chairman.

He was detained by the MACC at 4am this morning when he went to the office to provide his statement.

Last Saturday, two men aged 47 and 51, was remanded for a week to assist in investigations.

On Sunday, a 57-year-old company director was remanded for six days.


The case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.

The FIC is believed to have overpaid between RM40 million to RM50 million for the purchase of Merdeka Palace hotel.
