Family members have been urged to help single women find partners to avoid various problems, including Internet fraud which is often perpetrated by foreigners.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the family should not let them find their partners on their own as they might be busy with work and career.

"All quarters and our children need to pay attention on partners and candidates. The 'jodoh tak ke mana' view needs to be changed," he told reporters after opening the Pokok Sena Wanita UMNO delegates meeting here Saturday.

Recently, Kedah Religious Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Rawi Abdul Hamid had called on all parties, including NGOs to be more concerned over the fate of bachelor girls.

Jamil Khir also did not rule out that the larger female population in the country had contributed to more single women.

He said the Islamic matchmaking sites needed to be improved and must be free from any element of abuse.

The Jerai MP said this was because, there were unscrupulous individuals who were misusing personal data being shared by website users.
