Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak Thursday said he would continue to move forward, even though faced with challenges and obstacles regarding his leadership.

"Although of late, there have been challenges and obstacles, the Government and I have chosen only one way, which is to go forward and never go back.

"Clearly, it is true what the pious and literary have said, life is truly a struggle, much like the seas which are seldom calm. The tide rises and subsides.

The seasons change, there are hard times and there are good times," he said when tabling the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) at the Dewan Rakyat, here Thursday.

Even though in many things, we have done our best, but still we are being criticised by people

Najib also retorted his critics who were always finding the government's fault in implementing its policies for the good of the country and the people.

"Even though in many things, we have done our best, but still we are being criticised by people.

"In other matters, when the Government has been sincere, deciding that bulk subsidies are replaced with targeted subsidies so that aid is given through BR1M directly to those who really need it, suddenly, we have been accused and slandered," he said.

Of late, Najib's leadership was criticised, including by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, among others on 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

On GST, Najib admitted that the tax would take time to be implemented more efficiently to the satisfaction of all parties.

He reiterated that the people should not worry and be restless because the Government would inform them of the GST collection, and how it was spent.

"On behalf of the Government which keeps its word, I want to stress that we will ensure that the GST collection is allocated back for the overall good and needs of the people," he said.
