The disrupted Electric Train Services (ETS) on the north-south line due to the derailment of a cargo train at Kampung Bakap near Batu Gajah Station, here, is expected to only be operational later today.
“The remedial works are currently ongoing and the ETS services are expected to be fully operational latest by this afternoon,” said Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB)’s corporate relations manager Siti Badariah Wan Hanafi when contacted by Astro AWANI this morning.
"One railway track is expected to be operational at 3pm today," she added.
KTMB had on Saturday announced that the services will resume at 5am Sunday after repair works on the damaged 100-metre track structure of the Ipoh-Kampar line appeared to be running smoothly.
In the 3.15am incident on Friday, two locomotives and 40 wagons travelling from Kuang, Selangor to Tasek, Perak, to collect cement, derailed at KM200.3 between Kota Bharu and Lahat.
The two locomotives and 25 empty wagons had blocked two tracks.
