The royal town of Kuala Kangsar was congested with vehicles carrying guests and workers involved with the
enthronement ceremony of the Sultan of Perak XXXV, Sultan Nazrin Shah at Istana Iskandariah since 7am today.

Although the general public could not enter the palace to observe directly the enthronement ceremony, a handful of people waited at the gate leading into the palace to see the atmosphere here.

Police personnel were deployed to control traffic along the road from the Kuala Kangsar Toll Plaza right up to the palace to ensure smooth traffic flow to the venue of the ceremony.

Jalan Bendahara leading to the palace was closed from 8am for the arrival of honoured guests representing the Malay Rulers followed by the menteris besar and chief ministers.

Among the dignitaries expected to attend the ceremony were prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and deputy prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman.
