The Kelantan Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) has assured that the 4,800 tonnes cooking oil quota per month for 1.6 million people in the state will not be affected.

Its director Datuk Ab Ghani Harun said the assurance was based on the results of inspection conducted on suppliers, wholesalers and retailers statewide.

"Through daily checks we found that the process of cooking oil delivery is running smoothly and the supply (cooking oil) is sufficient. Therefore, consumers need not worry or panic into buying cooking oil as stock," he said.

He said this to reporters after the launch of the Kelantan state-level Deepavali Price Control Scheme 2016 which was officiated by Kelantan Federal Development Department director Datuk Makhtar Mustapha at a supermarket here today.

Ab Ghani was commenting on allegations by some that traders would hoard cooking oil and increase its price due to the withdrawal of its subsidy beginning November 2016 which has gone viral on social media.
