The Education Ministry has directed the publisher of the Year Six History Text Book to reprint the book after finding an error in the map of Peninsular Malaysia.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the publisher concerned must also bear the cost of reprinting the book because the error was made by them.

"Although the error involves only one page, the publishing company must reprint the book, no pasting of the erroneous page is allowed.

"The error shouldn't have been made and it must be corrected so that the pupils are not confused," he told reporters after opening the 2015 National Convention on Nationhood Education, here Wednesday.

He said this when asked to comment on the action taken by the ministry after the Year Six History Text Book showed an error in the location of the state of Melaka in the Peninsular Malaysia map.

The map showed the location of Melaka in the East Coast region, that is, above the state of Kelantan, and had become viral in the social website recently which invited various public reaction, especially among parents.

In another development, Mahdzir, who is also a member of the UMNO Supreme Council, said the 2015 UMNO General Assembly which begins on Dec 8 would provide the best platform for all party members to voice their opinion on the government in a peaceful environment.
