The driver of a tour bus was killed while 25 passengers, all Chinese nationals, survived after the bus they were travelling in skidded and overturned at KM17.2 Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur (westbound) tonight.

Genting Highlands Fire and Rescue Department senior officer II Engku Fadzir Engku Man said the 66-year-old driver was trapped in the driver's seat and died on the spot.

"Fire personnel took about five minutes to remove the victim by using hydraulic rescue equipment," he told Bernama, adding that the victim's body was sent to the Bentong Hospital.

He said 15 injured passengers were sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment while 10 others who escaped unhurt were taken back to their hotel.

Engku Fadzir said they received a distress call at 7.19pm before deploying seven fire personnel in one engine to the scene.
