SCHOOL-leavers looking to pursue their tertiary education, especially in automotive studies now has an option as DRB-HICOM University of Automotive Malaysia (“the University” or “DRB-HICOM University”) is open for the October and November intakes.
University by the Industry, for the Industry
Students will be spoilt for choice with up to 51 different programmes from eight major fields on offer; Automotive studies, Industrial Engineering, Safety and Occupational Health, Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, as well as Business and Management.
The University offers courses ranging from foundation to postgraduate studies.
The University, a wholly owned subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad (“Group”), is situated right in the hub of DRB-HICOM Automotive Complex in Pekan, Pahang.
Students at the University will be exposed to the on-ground activities at the Automotive Complex.
Once students have completed their studies, they will have the opportunity to work with renowned marques under the Group, such as PROTON, Honda, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Isuzu, Volkswagen, MODENAS and even DEFTECH.
Scholarships worth RM52 million on offer
Partial and full scholarships are also available for qualified students who enroll within October and November. The scholarship programme is expected to benefit more than 3,700 students nationwide.
DRB-HICOM University vice-chancellor and Chief Executive Officer, Prof Dato’ Sr. Dr. Omar Osman says deserving students can apply for the scholarship to relieve some of the financial burdens of their families.
“We are now giving away scholarships worth up to RM52 million to benefit deserving students.
The scholarship programme is part of the University’s efforts in creating a formidable workforce for the automotive sectors, not just in the country, but also for the region.
It is the University’s hope that the scholarships offered would act as a human capital catalyst, whereby more
individuals would take advantage of the programmes and pursue their studies at the University,” he said.
Enrollment for local and foreign students
Students can register for the Undergraduate programmes between now and November 4, while registration for Foundation and Postgraduate programmes will run between 3 and 18 November.
The full-fledged University is undertaking various initiatives to attract over 600 enrollment during this intake. To enrol, interested students can be on the lookout for the university’s roadshows, or refer to their social media (FB & IG), traditional media and the University’s web page.
DRB-HICOM University will also be travelling across Malaysia to visit schools, matriculation centres and vocational colleges to encourage and promote the programmes to school leavers.
The University is making efforts to attract foreign students, especially from China and Japan by collaborating with industry partners at the Asean level. In addition, foreign students will also be offered 30 per cent waiver off their tuition fees.
