Dog whisperer, Muhammad Azmi Ismail or popularly known as Pak Mie died at the Ampang Hospital here after suffering from brain hemorrhage and stroke at 11.30pm on Sunday.. He was 57.

Patron of the Society for Selangor Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Selangor (SPCA), Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the demise of Pak Mie is a great loss for animal lovers.

"Pak Mie was someone who really care for animals, especially dogs and cats and you know this by the way he cared for these animals all these years. Pak Mie is irreplaceable, this is a great loss, said Lam Thye.

Facebook page followers relentlessly share their condolences and sympathy to the family of Pak Mie. They all admired Pak Mie.

"May of you rest in peace with all the love that you gave to these animals and I hope Pak Mie’s legacy will continue," said one of his followers.

"Pak Mie was an extraordinary person and he shall not be forgotten – he remains in our memory forever,” said another FB user.

In August 2013, Astro AWANI published an article on a couple who provided shelter for about 700 stray dogs and a hundred 100 stray cats found roaming around Alor Setar.

At that time, Pak Mie who worked as a contractor and his wife, Halija Idris brought home sick, disabled and elderly animals and gave them the best care they possibly could.

Pak Mie had been caring for these animals with his wife for over 20 years without seeking help from any parties.

All the animals that sought further professional medical treatment were brought to veterinary clinic under their very own expenses.

However, Pak Mie’s endless affection towards these animals had come to an end when Pak Mie after his demise yesterday.

According Pak Mie’s official FB page, his health was deteriorating since Thursday last week, following a stroke and brain hemorrhage.

Since 1990, Pak Mie and his wife were responsible in rescuing hundreds of abandoned and abused felines and mongrels.

The loving and affectionate couple have had their shares of adventures for caring and rescuing including countless threats by some authorities. Some had threatened them to vacate their humble abode in Alor Setar or face the music.

Their animal loving story received mixed feedback and became viral in 2013.

Since then, many are willing to provide assistance for the care of the animals concerned.

Pak Mie will be laid to rest in the Masjid al - Bukhary burial in Alor Setar on Monday.
