All parties need to remain calm and avoid any fresh provocation following the incident in Bukit Bintang on Monday morning, said PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.

"PAS wanted to appeal and asked all parties in the country, especially in the hot spot areas around Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur to remain calm and avoid any new provocation that could heat up the situation.

"Let's not taint the harmony in this multi-ethnic country with incidents that could widen the existing relations which has been built for a long time," he said in a media statement today.

Abdul Hadi said, all parties involved have to handle the commotion with openness and patience.

"PAS asked all parties to address all the issues that arise, whatever the cause, with an open spirit and full of patience, especially in this holy month of Ramadan," he said.

Some people, including two journalists were injured after a rally of about 200 people outside the Plaza Low Yat turned violent last night.

Several arrests were made and police sealed off the Bukit Bintang area.

The incident, believed to be caused by the alleged theft, has led to a brawl in the plaza on Saturday, and a video of the incident has since gone viral.
