To support his three schoolgoing children with a financial assistance of RM300 per month has become an immense burden for Rosli Hamid whose legs became paralysed after an accident.

Rosli, 46, will now have to rely entirely on the sum of money channeled by the Community Development Department (JKM) of RM300 per month apart from praying and waiting for the Zakat allocation that he had applied for last year.

His misfortune is however far from over. Recently, he was told to move out of the house he was renting at RM100 per month in Kampung Air Itam, Terachi in Kuala Pilah.

"I have three children – one in standard three, one in standard one and another one in pre-school.

“Together, they receive a financial assistance of RM300 per month, which will be shared among them for their expenses and daily school needs," he told Astro AWANI yesterday.

Rosli was involved in a motorbike accident while on his way home from work in Kajang to Kuala Pilah.

He was bedridden since and only manage to do some odd works at the kampung to sustain his life.

Rosli said he was most devastated when the village head, whom he applied his zakat application through, did not even offer any form of help.

“He (village head) didn’t even want to greet me when I come across him on the streets. It seems like he is avoiding me.

“I am really hoping for the zakat to be able to ease my burden. I have requested but until now there isn’t any response.

“Why so? I feel I am truly worthy of the zakat with all the suffering that I have to go through now,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Pilah MP Datuk Seri Hasan Malek said Rosli has to immediately lodge a complaint to the nearest MP’s service centre.

Hasan who is also the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister said Rosli should not throw accusations towards the village head without knowing the actual status of his zakat application.

“He (Rosli) should re-look at his application whether there is any problem with it, or if the application is incomplete.

“We have never sidelined any villagers who are suffering. I will go on-site every week to be with the Kuala Pilah villagers according to the sections. Any complaints raised will be looked at and appropriate help will be channeled.

"It is difficult if the complaints are directed to the media without addressing it to me first. We do not want people to say they are marginalised after the government have provided assistance through the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M)," he said.
