The Crime Prevention Board Friday issued a Detention Order under the Prevention of Crime Act 1959 (POCA) for a father-and-son duo over the gruesome murder of four individuals at Jalan Pahang, Tapah, last year.

Perak criminal investigation department chief Datuk Goh Kok Liang in a statement here said the order was issued at 9pm and effective Friday.

He said the father and son were subjected to the detention order under Section 19A(1) of the POCA.

The first individual, who is a 58-year-old mechanic, is ordered to undergo a two-year detention at the Simpang Renggam Special Rehabilitation Centre, Johor, while his son, aged 21, will be held at the Kluang Special Rehabilitation Centre, Johor also for two years.

Earlier, the Ipoh Sessions Court Friday released both of them after their maximum 59-day remand period since December last year under Section 4 (1)(a) of the POCA ended on Feb 5.

Deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffery Ong said the father and son were released as the investigation could not be completed during their remand period.

On Oct 26, 2015, the police detained four suspects at about 1.30pm at a house in the vicinity of a vehicle workshop area off Jalan Pahang in Tapah, following a report of a missing 46-year-old property agent in Kampung Sungai Lah, Chenderiang near here.
