A dental officer has been remanded for three days effective today to facilitate investigations into claims he outraged the modesty of at least five secondary school students here.

Tawau police chief ACP Fadil Marsus confirmed the case saying it was being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a 10-year jail sentence or fine or whipping or any two of the punishments, on conviction.

"I confirm receiving a report involving the dental doctor and we will investigate as soon as possible," he said in a statement here today.

He said the suspect was arrested at 2.30pm yesterday at Tawau Airport.

Yesterday, five families lodged police reports claiming that the dental officer outraged the modesty of their daughters while treating them at the school dental clinic. - BERNAMA
