Residents living around the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) are requested to cooperate with authorities to reduce the number of dengue cases which may hit critical level.

To date, 1,670 dengue cases which caused the death of five people were reported around the areas of Ampang Jaya.

Four hotspots have been identified by MPAJ namely Taman Melawati, Kampung Pandan, Kampung Perwira Jaya and Bukit Utama.

According to the Yang Dipertua MPAJ, Abdul Hamid Hussain, most of the reported cases involved apartments and terrace houses.

Apart from fogging, MPAJ continues to conduct scheduled checks and cleanups activities in effort to reduce the number of cases.

“If no action is taken, these dengue cases may repeat and it may one day involve your own family member. So, in this case we urge for residents, the people in Ampang Jaya and also those around the country to pay attention and to spend some time ensuring that their area is clean,” said Abdul Hamid.

To date, 60 awareness programs have been held by MPAJ for the residents there to increase awareness about the deadly dengue fever.
