Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) director-general, Datuk Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz , 59, has been appointed as the new mayor of the federal capital for the city, effective July 18.

Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansur in a statement here today said Mhd Amin's appointment as the 11th Mayor of Kuala Lumpur had received the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.

"His 37 years experience in DBKL will help him perform his duties as Mayor," said Tengku Adnan.

The appointment is for a period of two years.

Commenting on the contract of the present Mayor, Tan Sri Ahmad Phesal Talib which ends on July 17, Tengku Adnan said: "I want to record my highest appreciation and thanks for his service as Mayor of Kuala Lumpur.

He said during Ahmad Phesal's tenure, DBKL had implemented various policies effectively.
