A mundane family outing to hunt for some computer gadgets at the Karamunsing Complex in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, almost turned into a nightmare.

For gadget junkie father, Khairul Adam Abdullah and wife, Fitri Yanah Jumat, it was a close shave where their daughter was almost kidnapped by a woman.

He said as he and Fitri were shopping, Fitri noticed a woman in a headscarf approaching their daughter, Aleeysya Dania.

“The woman looked at my daughter a few times before suddenly grabbing my daughter’s hand, but Aleeysya managed to pull her hand free," he wrote on his Facebook after the ordeal.

He said the woman grabbed Aleeysya again and started walking away.

“My wife quickly called out my daughter’s name, shocking the woman who then released my daughter’s hand," he added.

“What happened to me could happen to others. It’s important for us to be alert always.”

Disturbed over the matter, Khairul is now hunting for security devices to monitor the couple's three children.

“It would cost between RM100 to RM400, and sometimes even more. But I'm willing to spend that much as long as my children are safe.”

He said some of the devices have a Global Positioning System (GPS) that can be linked to one's cell phone, which will track down the children if something goes wrong.
